PlayDate is an experiment run by Playces. Here’s what happens to the information you share.
what we collect
Your name or nickname, date of birth (used to calculate age), chosen matching pools, questionnaire answers, email address or Telegram username, and the time you consented. If you choose dating, this includes your gender and who you’re open to dating. Optional questions, including religion and open text, can be skipped. Dating questions also include height and private preferences. Optional astrology collects birth time, city and country only if you opt in.
what it’s used for
We use your answers to explore suitable dating and friendship introductions and contact you about PlayDate. Only the organising team can access your responses. We do not create public profiles or automatically share your private answers or contact details with a match. If you explicitly agree, we show only your two hello answers (44 and 45) verbatim to your actual owner-issued match, alongside your name, event logistics, and a short explanation without numeric scores. Signup does not subscribe you to marketing or register you for an event.
where it’s stored
Responses are stored in Playces’ Supabase database, accessed by the organising team through a protected dashboard. Our website server processes submissions. We do not send questionnaire answers to an AI service for scoring. Optional astrology is calculated locally using an open-source engine; birth details are not sent to its public API. It is for fun, not a scientific prediction. Unknown birth times and unresolved places get no astrology score.
how long we keep it
We keep questionnaire answers, earlier answer versions, matching records and feedback indefinitely for ongoing PlayDate participation. They do not automatically expire or get deleted after a fixed number of days. You can pause participation or ask us to delete your data at any time. Pausing stops matching but does not delete your answers. If you request deletion, we also remove related matching records and simulation snapshots. Downloaded copies are handled privately by the team and follow the same retention policy. Database backups may retain deleted information until the provider’s backup cycle expires; they are not used for matching.
you’re in control
After submission, download your response copy and save your private edit link. Anyone holding that link can access your answers; do not share it. It expires after 30 days, and the team can revoke or replace it. This only limits access through the link; it does not delete your answers. We do not automatically email a copy.
You can correct your answers and pause participation through that link. Earlier answer versions are kept privately for audit until your response is erased. Changes affecting an already-issued match require organiser review and do not silently change the introduction. Post-meeting feedback is private to the team and helps us evaluate this small experiment.
To correct an answer, withdraw from matching, or request deletion, email tomodachi@ourplayces.com. Include the name and contact you submitted so we can locate your response. We may ask for confirmation to protect your information. We’ll respond to your request as soon as we can.
a note on matching
PlayDate is for adults aged 18 and above. Joining does not guarantee a match. Compatibility scores guide the team; they aren’t scientific predictions or guarantees about people. First introductions will be reviewed by the team.
